Gerald (Jerry) L. Maschka, Senior Partner
Jerry Maschka has more than 30 years of experience representing injured people with a special emphasis on closed head injuries, paralysis, severe orthopedic injuries and wrongful death. He has been named one of Minnesota's 'Top 40 Personal Injury Lawyers" by MN Law and Politics. Woodward and White have recognized him for 13 consecutive years in The Best lawyers in America. He is Board Certified as a Civil Trial Specialist, a Qualified ADR (Alternative Dispute Resolution) Neutral, a member of the Minnesota Association for Justice, and accredited by the American Board of Trial Advocates. John (Jack) M. Riedy, Managing Partner
Jack Riedy is highly skilled in construction dispute resolution, possessing detailed knowledge of the industry and law. Lawyers throughout the state and the Mankato community refer these kinds of cases to him. A 1973 graduate of the University of North Dakota Law School, Riedy has earned respect as a strong mediator, arbitrator and litigator during more than 30 years of legal practice. He is a certified MSBA Civil Trial Specialist and a Qualified Neutral for Mediation and Arbitration (Minnesota Supreme Court Roster). He is also a member of the Minnesota Association for Justice. Jack is an instrument-rated private pilot who knows aviation law. Also, on personal time he has served as Chairman of the City of Mankato Airport Commission, and as a Charter Member of the City of Mankato Human Rights Commission.

Charles W. Ries, Partner
Chuck Ries is a 1981 graduate of William Mitchell College of Law and a C.P.A. since 1977. Ries brings together two areas of professional expertise to excel at serving businesses and individuals working through bankruptcy, taxation and commercial law issues. He has been named a Minnesota Super Lawyer (MN Law & Politics). He is a Certified Public Accountant, District of Minnesota Panel Trustee, a Qualified Neutral for Mediation and Arbitration, and Minnesota State Bar Association Bankruptcy Section past Chair, Vice Chair, and Secretary/Treasurer. He is an active member of All Saints Parish and has served there in various leadership positions. He is a past President and Director of Mankato Area Girls Fastpitch Association and an officer of American Legion Post 269.

John Chuck Peterson, Partner
Chuck Peterson takes pride in helping families bring order to decision making that eases the transitions of illness and death. This includes preparing wills, powers of attorney, health care directives and handling property issues and probate issues. Also, he practices real estate, municipal and commercial law. He has served as a Blue Earth County Public Defender for 26 years. A 1976 graduate of Drake University Law School, Peterson is active with the Drake University Law Review. He teaches with the City of Mankato’s Home Stretch Program, reducing foreclosures among participants, and with VINE, a nonprofit providing assistance to elderly and disabled persons. He is a Board Member and past Chairman, Mankato House of Hope Halfway House, enjoys sports, and has held leadership positions with Mankato Area Youth Football Association, Mankato Royals Baseball, and Ducks Unlimited.

Marcus J. Christianson, Partner
Marc Christianson is an accomplished litigator, with particular expertise in the areas of personal injury and insurance defense. A 1978 graduate of Hamline University School of Law, Marc is licensed to practice in both Minnesota and South Dakota, certified as a Civil Trial Specialist, Civil Litigation Section Minnesota State Bar Association and has been named a Minnesota Super Lawyer by MN Law & Politics. He is a Member of the Fifth Judicial District Commission on Judicial Selection (appointed by Governor Pawlenty), Minnesota Association for Justice and the South Dakota State Bar Association. Christianson works from both Maschka, Riedy & Ries’ Mankato and Minneota offices and has been active in numerous professional organizations in both locations. He serves as Director, North Star Mutual Insurance Company, Board of Directors for The March of Dimes and has held leadership positions with Southwest State University Foundation, First Lutheran Church Foundation and with youth sports programs in Marshall, MN.

Renee C. Rubish, Partner
Renee Rubish is an accomplished personal injury and bankruptcy litigator and has been named a “Rising Star” by MN Law & Politics. Rubish is also a Registered nurse and has worked in both hospital and clinic settings dealing with a variety of medical conditions. A 1994 graduate of William Mitchell College of Law, she is a member of the Minnesota Association for Justice, Minnesota State Bar Association and Minnesota Women Lawyers. She has served on the board for Healthy Seniors, an Owatonna-based organization, Wee Pals Daycare Center of Owatonna and is active with youth sports programs in the area.

Jorun Groe Meierding is a 1985 graduate of William Mitchell College of Law. James D. Fleming
Jim Fleming is a litigation specialist with nineteen years of experience as a prosecutor and public defender, 12 as Chief Public Defender and First Assistant, Fifth Judicial District. Extensive trial experience includes more than 100 trial-to-verdict jury cases. A 1987 graduate of William Mitchell College of Law, Fleming has taught trial advocacy in Minnesota and across the country. He is a member of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, Minnesota Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and the Minnesota Association for Justice. He has been named Super Lawyer by MN Law & Politics. Nicholas J. Maxwell
Nick Maxwell's work focuses on civil litigation, with an emphasis on personal injury. He graduated from the University of Minnesota Law School in 2007 where he received the Outstanding Clinical Student Award from the Clinical Legal Education Association. As a law student he worked as a Student Director in the University's Civil Practice Clinic; Judicial Extern in the 1st Judicial District; Streetlaw instructor; and was a Public Service Program Honoree. Prior to law school Nick was a Citizen Assistance Analyst in the Consumer Division of the Minnesota Attorney General's Office. He earned the Gieske Award in Political Science and Scholar of the College honors as an undergraduate at the University of Minnesota, Morris where he served as the campus' Student Representative to the Board of Regents and graduated with Distinction. Maxwell is an officer in the Minnesota Army National Guard and has served as a leader in the Boy Scouts of America programs.

Matthew S. Johnson
Matt Johnson is a 2007 graduate of the University of Minnesota Law School and a 2004 graduate of St. John's University, Collegeville, MN. He brings strong oral argument skills to Maschka, Riedy & Ries's litigation department, recognized by MN Supreme Court justices and others who named him one of two finalists in the University Law School's Maynard Pirsig Moot Court Oral Argument Tournament, 2005-2006. Johnson served as Judicial Extern for Judge Richard H. Kyle, United States District Judge, District of MN. At St. John's, he was awarded the Presidential Scholarship, selected captain of the baseball team and named to the MIAC All Conference baseball team.
